I love all my photography sessions with children but of course there is something extra special about photographing newborn babies.
Newborn Baby photography sessions take place ideally when your baby is 6-10 days old. This is so I can photograph the beautiful 'curled' sleepy positions that your baby will be in. This time passes so quickly and I aim to capture all the details for you - the wrinkly skin, wispy hair, tiny fingers and toes.
After two weeks your baby is more alert and therefore not as easy to settle into a deep sleep, but I can of course still create some lovely images for you.
The sessions take place in the comfort of your own home using natural light where possible, typically in the morning between 9.30am to 11am when the light is at it's best. There is therefore no need to worry about having to get out to a studio when you have just had your baby. You can relax at home, you don't even need to get dressed!
We will discuss the best room option for this when you book your session.
Newborn sessions are very, relaxed and unrushed and typically last between 2.5-4 hours, dependant on your baby, to allow for feeding and changing when necessary and then time to get them to sleep - and of course plenty of cups of tea! It is therefore best to set the day aside for this session. I will only book one baby per day to ensure we have all the time we need.
Having had two children myself I fully appreciate how tiring it is for you as parents during those first few weeks. But you can relax at the shoot and you will so pleased that you managed to fit in a session once you have your images which will be treasured forever.
Babies are typically photographed when asleep so that I can gently pose them and use the available props.
I will bring along a variety of beautiful soft hats and accessories which add a lovely dimension to the images. Baskets are great props to show just how tiny your baby is and we can of course use any of your own props or accessories that you may have.
If you want me to include siblings then please let me know when you are booking so that I can quote a price for you.
Please ensure older siblings have something to do or someone to look after them for part of the session as it can be boring for them while we are settling your newborn.
I recommend that you book your session as soon as you know you are pregnant. Your baby's arrival date will be unpredictable but I can book a provisional appointment which can be revised once your baby is born.
You will receive approximately 10/15 images to choose from - custom photography for newborns takes time and skill and a lot of post processing is involved to create a work of art for you.
Newborn sessions cost £100.00 for bookings within 12 miles of Bramhall/Cheadle Hulme (please enquire for mileage costs outside of these areas) and include:-
- travel to and from your home
- up to four hours attendance
- up to 10/15 edited proofs
- password protected gallery
- one 12"x10" high quality print of your choice
Prices are also available on request for montages, large prints, box frames and blocks as well as birth announcement cards, wallet cards and key-rings.
£50.00 booking fee is required with the balance of the sitting fee due on the day of the photo-shoot.
